DOMESTIC & IRRIGATION BACKFLOW TESTING Northern Colorado

A CLEARER WAY TO ARRANGE YOUR TEST

How many backflow
devices do you have?

Count each separate testable backflow assembly—not every sprinkler head, irrigation zone, shutoff valve, or test connection. A close estimate is enough to start a quote.

DOMESTIC WATER

Look for separate assemblies serving buildings or domestic systems.

A property can have one domestic assembly or several assemblies serving separate buildings or protected connections. Count each complete assembly once.

LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION

Count assemblies—not irrigation zones.

One irrigation assembly can protect many sprinkler zones. Count separate backflow assemblies, not the number of controllers, valves, sprinkler heads, or landscaped areas.

A SIMPLE COUNTING METHOD

Start with systems, then check separate locations.

First ask whether the property has domestic water, landscape irrigation, or both. Then note separate buildings, mechanical rooms, meter areas, valve boxes, fenced areas, or other places where another complete assembly may be located.

The make, model, size, and serial number are not needed for the initial estimate.

  1. 01

Count each complete domestic backflow assembly.

  2. 02

Count each complete landscape irrigation backflow assembly.

  3. 03

Add assemblies at separate buildings or protected connections.

  4. 04

Choose the closest range—or “Not sure”—on the quote form.

DO NOT ADD THESE TO THE TOTAL

Common items that are not separate backflow devices.

  • Sprinkler heads and irrigation zonesThese may be supplied through one backflow assembly.
  • Test cocks and shutoff valvesThey can be parts of one assembly, not separate devices.
  • Fire-protection assembliesIdentify these separately. Fireline testing is outside the service scope.

What if you still cannot tell?

Select “Not sure.” The device range is optional because an honest estimate is more useful than forcing an exact answer. The exact property, systems, and count can be confirmed during quote follow-up.
